Beyond being just a staple of the movie-going experience, these iconic licorice twists have sharing at the core of their brand DNA. Inspired by their slogan, “The World Could Use a Little More Red Vines,” we set out to create an interactive experience that would embody this sentiment.
The World of Sharing visualizes user-generated content by turning positive messages into pieces of licorice that join together and form a giant virtual chain of Red Vines that wraps around the world. Part virtual sculpture, part social media experiment, the World of Sharing uses a sleek flash interface overlaid onto Google Maps to simulate the Vines journey across the earth. Facebook Connect and Twitter tie-ins encourage users to share their messages with friends, inviting them to join in and add their own messages to help “Grow the Vine.” As the chain grows, circumnavigating the globe, prizes are continually given out to participants. Once the Red Vines chain has completed its journey, one lucky Grand Prize winner will receive a trip around the world.
